Newton Stewart Youth Hostel offers good basic facilities which include a self-catering kitchen, family sized bedrooms, a laundry and drying room, secure bike storage and ample on-site parking.
There are opportunities for fishing, pony trekking, wildlife watching and hill walking within the Galloway Forest Park and along the coast. The Forest Park also is the UK's first Dark Sky Park offering spectacular stellar viewing on a clear night. Mountain bikers can take the challenges at 7Stanes forests at Glentrool & Kirroughtree, The Southern Upland Way is only 8 miles away and the Sustrans Cycle Route 7 passes the youth hostel on the way to Highlands.
