Set in Skye's rugged beauty, just over a mile from the beach and close to the magical Fairy Pools, Glenbrittle is a great rustic youth hostel at which to spend a few days relaxing and enjoying the outdoors.
The hostel has a long tradition of providing a welcome base for walkers and climbers tackling the famous Cuillin Ridge, including some of Scotland’s most challenging peaks.
It offers guests a range of shared accommodation and private rooms, a modern self-catering kitchen as well as plenty of dining space. Facilities include a drying room and a homely shared lounge area adorned with old photographs of the surrounding area. There are numerous books and games as well as a guitar for the evenings and a small shop sells basic food items and other essentials, including ice-cream!
For the ambitious mountaineer, the Skye Munros and the Cuillin Ridge will provide the perfect playground. For the less adventurous there are plenty of opportunities to experience the wildlife and natural beauty of Skye with coastal and low-level walks to suit all abilities and weather conditions. For those looking to capture a traditional taste of Scotland, the Talisker Distillery is about 7 miles from the youth hostel.
