As part of the new European classification system for bathing waters, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) have classed both Loch Morlich and Achmelvich Beach as "excellent".

Set in the UK's largest National Park, Loch Morlich is a fresh water loch fringed by beautiful sandy beaches. Opposite Cairngorm Lodge Youth Hostel and enjoying stunning views of the northern Cairngorm peaks, this " beach in the mountains" is perfect for enjoying watersports, forest walks or relaxing in the sand on a sunny day.

Over in the North West Highlands, Achmelvich Beach boasts white sand and crystal waters to rival the Carribean (although sadly not the climate!). Just 300 metres from Achmelvich Beach Youth Hostel, this section of Scotland's coastline is ideal for canoeing, kayaking and windsurfing...not to mention the unforgettable sunsets!

With both beaches just a stone's throw from two of our youth hostels, now is the perfect time to book your summer break!
