Aviemore Sled Dog Rally

For British sled dog owners, this is 'the' event of their year where more than 200 teams of Siberian Huskies, Malamutes, Aviemore Sled Dog RallyGreenlands and cross-breeds will race through Glenmore Forest Park on the shores of Loch Morlich. The rally features teams of between two and eight dogs running at up to 20 miles an hour over a gruelling, four-mile track.

For spectators, the rally is a great opportunity to see these fabulous dogs - and their 'mushers' or drivers - being put through their paces hopefully in their natural element although even if there is no snow, the dogs will pull wheeled sleds and will be 'booted up' to protect their paws on the rugged forest paths. As well as sledding events, there are also trips to the nearby Highland Wildlife Park to see the wolves, whisky-tasting sessions, a Musher's Market, tea parties, quiz nights and much more.
