Members’ Groups are informal groups, set up by like-minded SYHA
members, to share an interest or hobby within the setting of our
youth hostels.
They offer the chance to meet people with similar interests, to
pursue a hobby or to go on trips and outings across Scotland.
Members Groups are likely to cover such interest as hill-walking,
mountain-biking, group hostelling with kids, sponsored treks,
gardening, conservation and any other interests and activities
suggested by members.
Some groups hold informal meetings, others go out to visit
hostels, while others get involved with volunteer projects around
the country.
Participation in the Members’ Groups is entirely optional –
you don’t have to belong to a group to stay in any of our
hostels. The groups are free to join, and you can choose how
often you want to take part. You may even want to start your own
group. We hope that as many members as possible will join, as this
is your opportunity to become more involved with SYHA and help take
the organisation forward, while enjoying yourself at the same
time.
The groups are organised through the “Hub”. The Hub is the
central mechanism for the organisation of members’ groups, and it
contains a list of current groups, and members with particular
interests, so that like-minded people can get together and form a
group or join an existing one.
If you are interested in joining or setting up a Members’ Group,
the first step is to register with the Hub using the form
below.
As a condition of
membership, we will share your information only within
