Membership of SYHA Hostelling Scotland gives you access to all of our youth hostels in Scotland, and over 4500 hostels in 60 other countries around the world.

Our adult individual membership costs just £10 per year (students and juniors get free membership – details below), making it great value whether you are travelling at home or abroad.  Non-members pay an additional cost each night for temporary membership, but full members pay only the published prices.

Support a Charity

As a registered charity, we rely on the support of our members. By staying in our network, you are helping to ensure the survival of remote and rustic hostels in some of the most beautiful parts of the country.

A number of Members’ Groups have been set up, to enable hostellers to pursue common interests such as walking, mountaineering, wildlife-watching or photography. 

As a member, you can choose to get more involved with the direction of SYHA Hostelling Scotland, by voting for Council and Board members, or by standing for election yourself. And of course, we always welcome volunteers who want to make a more direct contribution by helping to maintain, develop and run our youth hostels.

Replacement Membership Cards

Those who require a replacement membership card will incur the following charges.

Life Membership £5.00
All other cards £3.50

Postage & Packaging

Collection can be arranged at any SYHA Hostelling Scotland Youth Hostel, or a UK postal address free of charge.  Please contact the membership team to arrange.  All new Memberships that are required to be posted outside the UK will be charged a Postage and Packaging fee of £2.50. 

Armed Forces Membership

The current offer of free membership to members of the armed forces is due to expire from 1st of February 2012.
