Tobermory

Photo of Hostel

This basic but charming youth hostel is ideally located, it being one of the many brightly painted buildings in Tobermory’s harbour (it’s the red-pink one). The youth hostel has central heating, hot showers, laundry facilities, a spacious self-catering kitchen and rooms with either 5 or 6 beds, most with sea views. The harbour, the setting of the popular TV show Balamory, is popular with families. The island itself is worth the ferry ride from Oban alone, and once here there is plenty to do. Coastal and woodland walking is excellent round Tobermory, with a visit to Ben More (966m) a must for serious walkers. Enjoy a trip to the local distillery, which is near the hostel. A visit to Mull would not be complete without visiting Sgriob-ruadh Farm, the home to Isle of Mull Cheese. Day trips to Iona or Staffa are also available.
