Garenin

Photo of Hostel

Unfortunately, Garenin Youth Hostel will be closed for the foreseeable future. There have been ongoing issues with the heating supply which the Garenin Trust have been trying to resolve. Therefore, Garenin Youth Hostel will not be open on the 1st of April as stated in the 2011 Hostel Guide. The traditional crofting village of Garenin has now come back to life after its "black houses" were restored by Urras Nan Gearrannan (The Garenin Trust). The youth hostel was the first of these to be rebuilt and was opened in 1991. A fantastic experience set amongst wonderful wild scenery, the village is set in a peaceful bay on the rocky coast of West Lewis. Gatliff Trust Hostel. Sorry no advanced booking.
