This is an excellent, clean, friendly, well-run hostel. It is an excellent base for outdoor activities on Skye. The town centre (and chippie) are only a five minute walk. Reccommended.

I had a good couple of days staying in Broadford, and it has good bus links. I had a great walk which started with walking up the Marble Line path (off the road to Elgol) round to Boreraig, Suishnish and then I followed the track to Kilbride before walking back along the road and exploring the ruins of Kilchrist church. I'd recommend going on to Uig Youth Hostel in the north of Skye too.

Stayed at broadford for two days, wish it was two weeks though. perfect location to explore the island, yet close enough to the village to walk and shop. Great location with fantastic views, loved every minute of our stay and returning again soon. We stayed at rattegan the night previously then onto ullaport. If you do this be sure to go the coastal route, its double the distance but well worth it for the views, we went onto aviemore after that but came back that route because of the views and went back along the loch road rather than the main roads. Lovely little cafe at the port in lochalsh if you want a breakfast.

We joined the SYHA upon our arrival in Scotland when we got to Stirling. Jimmy oriented us and gave us good informatoin. Though we didnt stay at that hostel, we found using the SYHA facilities during our recent trip through Scotland to be a good value and very convenient. The staff are all friendly and helpful. Broadford, on Skye, was our first night in a SYHA - but I would recommend any of the ones we stayed in (Carbisdale, Inverness, and Pitlochary) for independent travellers on a budget. Defintely would do this again! Thank you.

I stayed in Broadford Hostel for 2 weeks. It was pretty good but I was glad I was there to do something because you have to be out of the hostel between 10.30am and 2.30pm(ish) each day. If you don't have somewhere to go planned, make sure you have some good waterproofs. The staff at this hostel were very nice, and Broadford has quite good travel links to the rest of Skye (before 6pm, none after). It would have been good to have a bike.

The Co-op nearby is very good and the fuel prices at the adjoining petrol station prices were quite reasonable. If visiting Dunvegan Castle we'd recommend stopping at the Old Bakery in Dunvegan, excellent scones and fabulous pies. We also enjoyed the Bella Jane boat trip from Elgol to Loch Corusk in the Cullins. We opted to stay ashore for 1 1/2 hours, and enjoyed the picnic we took.

Beautiful, laid back hostel and did not feel conspicuous as a midle aged wifie!

Good location and Coop and small tourist information shop within easy walking distance. One of the few hostels to offer a private single room that was not much more expensive than a dorm room. Only problem was the midges!

Be aware that you are locked out during the day until 5pm!! So if you arrive back cold and wet after a walk before this time you won't get in to shower and change!!

Liked the hostel overall - great generally. Only bunk beds (we had 6 in a fairly wee room) were a bit short and uncomfy for some big blokes!

Broadford was a really nice place and the youth hostel was clean and friendly with large communal areas and a well appointed kitchen We ate at Creelers restaurant and it was brilliant a little pricey but worth it
