Torridon is a magnificent corner of the North Western Highlands with some of the finest mountain scenery in Europe. Situated at the base of the mighty Liathach (1055m) and only a stones throw from Upper Loch Torridon. This area is thought to be the inspiration for Middle Earth, in Tolkien’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ - to see it is to believe it. Mountaineers are spoilt for choice and we simply couldn’t list them all, for the best advice ask our knowledgeable hostel staff. The local Mountain Rescue team is also based in the hostel. The hostel also has its own store, self-catering facilities, two panoramic lounges, hot showers, an excellent drying room and all in a superb location. Why not take time out to visit Beachcomber cottage in nearby Applecross - the insiration for the BBC TV programme Monty Halls Great Escape?
