Tomintoul

Photo of Hostel

A small friendly youth hostel with great facilities set in the refurbished village school. Tomintoul is a wonderfully lush and fertile area, most famous for the three 'W's: whisky, walking and wildlife. The Speyside Way enables walkers to visit many local distilleries, including Tamdhu, Knockando, Aberlour, Glenfiddich and Balvenie. Many wonderful low and high level walks also exist on the nearby Glenlivet estate. Activities such as cycling, horse riding, skiing and fly-fishing are all popular here, whilst further away breeding ospreys can be viewed at Loch Garten. The drive from our youth hostel in Aviemore to the west or Braemar from the south are both spectacular, whatever the season.
