Was freezing cold (minus 15°C or so) and all snowy but so wonderful. We coud try a couple of lovely walks in the surroundings, enjoyed good pub foof at the Old Mill and at Moulin (what a great place).

Great little hostel. Very friendly staff. Close to the excellent Moulin brewery and pub. Great food and locally brewed real ales. The car park is very small at this hostel so get there early or on street parking will be required. The walk up Ben Vrackie is recommended, especially as the trip takes you past the pub.

Our group enjoyed the delights of 'Perthshire in Autumn' from the lovely setting of Pitlochry. Good Hostel.

Stayed in Pitlochry SYA with four friends - in a family room - first experience of hosteling - and certainly hope it will not be our last. Very clean accomodation - and very comfortable dining and lounge areas. Our visit was for the "Enchanted Forest" . Member of staff on duty was very pleasant and helpfull, rooms were spotless and beds/bedding comfortable.

We only stayed in the hostel for a night and it was almost the end of the season, but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hostel is clean and tidy, well situated and affordable. Would definitely recommend and also stay here again.

A really nice hostel on a perfect location, overlooking Pitlochry. Perfect to observe late autumn colours (especially observe the trees in the churchyard! :-)), beautiful sunsets and sunrises!

an excellent hostel with a friendly cosy atmosphere. In the middle of town, so there are lots of facilites, amenites, things to do. Pitlochry is easy to get to by train, bus, car or bike. Great base for the South East Highlands.

- great staff who allowed me to print my online checking from Ryanair - laundry room far too small - private room for 4 really small: no air, too warm at night... - noisy late at night and early in the morning

we only stayed in Pitlochry for one night. We liked the hostel, we were lucky to have the 3-bed family-room and the hostel is really nice with a great view. It is not so easy to find because the last sign is a big covered by a tree/bush... Pitlochry is a nice little town in a good area. We can recommend it to anybody.

Watch out for the steep sharp turn into the drive if arriving by car. The Co-op is open from 8am 7 days a week and is nearby. Hostel staff have nice map of the town and are very friendly and informative.

I thought this hostel was perfectly comfortable with modern clean kitchen and dining areas and did not deserve the slating it received from one fussy fellow from Wales who said it looked as if it was last decorated in the 1970's! Rubbish !He was obviously too young to recall the decor of the 1970's because it had more the air of the 1950's.I like the old world charm and faded elegance of interesting old country houses .If you want decor a la Travelodge then go and stay in one !

The kitchen was very well organised and the dining room spacious with a fantastic view! Our private room had an ensuite which was a welcome bonus, and all was very clean. The young manager was friendly, and the lady with him in the morning very helpful.

The staff at the Pitlochry youth hostle were helpful and friendly but the hostle its self has had no investment put into it what so ever since, i can only asume, the 1970's. If you want an experience of what it would be like to be a refugee during a international crisis or time of war then i'm sure you would like the Pitlochry Youth Hostle Experience as it enjoys all the benefits of living in a world after the bomb has dropped and destroyed almost all civilisation with the choice of either staying here or going back to the iradiated waste lands of the city. I know youth hostles are not the classiest of places but i've stayed in others around the country and this one is by far the worst I have ever seen. Mould covered bathroom ceilings, very old and worn mattresses, massive amounts a cobwebs and dirty tatered furniture, to just name a few. Very disapointed indeed.

Fantastic location. the view from the dining/breakfastroom was probably the best accomadation view in pitlochry. inmates(staff) were very freindly and guests are always very chatty. Although its like turning up to stay with a elderly aunt (the decor that is), but afer the first day there`s more to life.

The hostel is well signposted from the main street in Pitlochry expect that the final sign pointing to a turning on the left is obstructed by trees and can easily be missed.

Avoid Pitlochry SYHA, find a local bunkhouse or B&B instead. It is hard to find as the signs are grown over. The staff seem to spend most of their time 'on the computer'. 'Guests' seem to be squashed into as few rooms as possible to save on cleaning. The showers hardly work and it is clear this has been a problem for some time.

Excellent location on a hill just above town and the high street. Quite near the best pub in town, the Moulin brewery, a bit further up the hill. And they offered a breakfast when I stayed there, with meat, cheese, bread, etc at a small price. Quite a surprise.
