I stayed one night in a spacious single en-suite. Good kitchen facilites. Everywhere was clean. There is a large TV room/lounge but little comfortable seating. Don't expect a decent picture as there is only an internal aerial. The hostel has a lock-out from 1000 to 1500. A excellent base for Inverness and the surrounding area; I would go for a longer stay.

This hostel is very handy, close to all of Inverness' sights, but set well back in its own grounds. Take your earplugs though as the walls are very thin and you can hear your fellow hostellers talking, walking etc. outside your dorm.

This hostel was extremely welcoming and friendly and cosy, and, importantly, quiet at night. We appreciated it being handy for the town centre and for the supermarket. We understand the dorms are fine but our twin room cost much the same as a BnB and was in effect a cell with bunk beds. So we cannot recommend the private rooms but as a hostel we would strongly recommend it.

The hostel is lacking in character. Tried to cancel 48 hours in advance but the staff would not lete change the date never mind a refund. A bit expensive for an out of town location. Also no discount for 16-18 year olds as is the case in yhas in England + Wales. As prices are comparable to a b&b, I would go for that next time.

Very easy to find off the A9. A couple of pubs with resturants close by as you approach the hostel. Well priced and very close to the town too. I would recommend this to anyone. I had a single room with ensuite shower which was a blessing after a hard days cycling and early night. Great facilities for the very soggy and dirty people, washing machines and drying room were fantastic. Storage for bicycles to was good. Breakfast was ample but would have preferred it earlier as I had a long day ahead. But over all, great welcome at the desk. Room was clean and prepared. I would stay again at this hostel for sure.

This is a great hostel to stay in when visiting Invernexx and the surrounding area. There is easy access to the town centre within a short walk. There are are major supermarkets close by for those on a budget, whilst there are a wide variety of very good restaurants close at hand for those looking for a meal out. The town in a delight and we can really recommend the walk by the river and through the park. Not only will you see fly fisherman landing their catch, you wil see sculpture that both surprises and delights the walker. The hostel was very well used by large groups of US college students whilst we were staying there. This can make for quite a rowdy atmosphere, but we found them all respectful and it was very quiet at night.

This is a wonderful place to stay in, though it does appear to be very popular, which is not a bad thing, but I would certainly advise booking as early as you possibly can, so that you don't miss out on this wonderful hostel and it's beautiful surroundings. Excellent location, easy walking distance for station, supermarket and city centre - or plenty of parking if you bring a car. A clean and efficient hostel, with helpful staff, and good self-catering and lounge facilities. Stayed in late November, so can't comment on atmosphere as there were very few guests. If booking a single room, be aware that they can be VERY small, however the dorms are well designed and reasonably spacious.

Big warm cosy hostel, much appreciated in the freezing weather we've been having lately. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Very nice beds and rooms, with 6 little closets inside, where you can keep your bag safe if you have a padlock (you can buy it on reception). Staff was not specially nice, but efficient enough. I left after my first day, it was not what I expected, I had to clean my room and it was very expensive (I had a single, en-suite) for what I got, the mattress was to big for the covers, there were stains all over the carpet, chair and footstool, electric switches were loose. We came by bus to Inverness and not knowing at which end of Victoria Drive the hostel was situated, and being unsure from the instructions which way to go at the Eastgate junctions , we set off up Stephen's Brae, which proved a rather long and taxing walk. We found that by turning left at the Eastgate junction into Millburn Road and then right into Victoria Road the hostel was much closer and the route was much flatter with only a short climb to the hostel. I think it would be helpful if the instructions were clearer from the Eastgate junction and we would recommend they indicated the Millburn Road route.

Directions to the Hostel are fine, but some visitors might think that the ugly, large, white building next to the Hostel is a Prison, surrounded as it is by 3 metre fencing, security lights and a `keep out` messages but they would be wrong, it is in fact the brand new Milburn Academy, a multimillion pound PFI - is this the best we can do?

We thought the Hostel was quite difficult to find. It could have done with being signposted at the roundabout at the top of the hill and also from the shopping centre.

if you are on foot, do NOT walk along the main road beside the railway line and expect to get across the road towards the hostel without taking your life in your hands. Instead go through the shopping centre and up the hill where there is little traffic.

Well located for Inverness town and an ideal staging point for onward travel to Highlands. When I was there in October there were bus loads of foreign students, who it must be said were very well behaved and were not a problem.

The Hostel is very clean, situated in an ideal spot and great for groups to get around Inverness. Could do with more facilities in the kitchen - plenty of cookers but bring your own pots!!!!

A nice hostel and I was fortunate to have my own (small but adequate) room so didn't see the dorms. However I did share a bathroom and there appeared to be enough on the floor I was on. The kitchen is large and has plenty of cookers and utensils and 2 large fridges plus enough shelves for food storage. However for whatever reason sharp knives had to be got from and returned to reception. When I stayed there, mid September, there were visiting school parties and not enough cutlery for them to eat at one sitting or for the other hostellers. Also despite having a very large dining room for breakfast for those not catering for themselves, the self-catering dining area was not big enough. There is a comfortable lounge also. Apart from the school parties on 2 nights the hostel was not busy when I stayed but I imagine it does get busy. It is close to the centre of town which has a good bus station, and close by there is a large Morrisons.

See Glen Ord Distillery which is situated 15 miles west of Inverness. Culloden Battlefield is overrated. Pay the East Coast a vist. A good start is Dunrobin Castle.

Inverness is a nice place to travel. Calm and peaceful, the town is a fantastic place to get away from the hustles and bustles of the city life..

This is a fantastic hostel in terms of both location and facilities; excellent value too. The only negative is the lack of breakfast choice; i prefer a cooked breakfast: the only option was for continental only.I would have settled for a coffee only and then eaten out, but coffee only was not possible. HOWEVER, there is a Morrisons supermarket nearby with a good cafeteria within the store, so don't let this put you off a visit.

Fantastic start to a fantastic trip using only hostels whilst cycling around the north West of Scotland. No issues what so ever, pricing, friendliness of staff, service, comfort all exceptional. As for privacy, it is a hostel after all, and meeting new people far out weighed any privacy issue. would strongly reccommend hosteling to anyone and everyone.

Too little seating in the self-catering dining room--24 places for a hostel with over 100 beds! Only 32 places in the car park. Kitchen wasn't well organised, had few working ovens, and boiling water wasn't. We were gasping for air at night in the stifling room under the metal roof after a sunny day. Showers were good, though.

Dont ask the locals directions to the hostel-they dont know.Dont go via the residential area- its a maze. Simply follow the railway line away from the station on the parallel road for 800m until you see the only SYHA sign on the left pavement -unfortunately you wont see this in the dark.!

I used this hostel as my homebase from which I traveled Scotland for ten weeks. 9All roads lead to Inverness!) It is convenient, clean, safe, and attractive, with informed, professional friendly staff. I will use the Inverness hostel for the same purpose next summer because it was so successful.

It is an easy level walk from Inverness bus or rail stations, past Morrisons to the hostel. the hostel doesn't sell food or alcohol or provide evening meals so stock up at the Morrisons on your way.

It would be great if we could book lower bunk beds. The headroom between bunks is very low. I am only 5 foot tall and kept banging my head on the bottom of the top bunk when I tried to sit up when getting out of the bottom bunk. I liked the fact that I could charge my mobile phone in the room

Being modern, major advantage is the wi-fi and several stations to plug into. A bit impersonal but you get that with new hostels (health/safety etc) and compensations are the facilities (cooking and restaurant). Friendly chef!

This is a huge hostel within walking distance to the centre of Inverness. The rooms are really clean with comfy beds. Each room has lockers but you need to bring your own lock. The rooms looks exactly like the pictures on the webpage. There is a huge kitchen with everything u need from pots and pans to plates and cups.

The Hostel is easy to get to - comfortable and well run. The members' kitchen is very well resourced with all necessary items including large fridges. The Hostel is reasonably quiet - as long as you are not in a room overlooking the front entrance - which we were - people congregate and sit there late into the evening and early in the morning. The Hostel is close to a supermarket and convenient for shops and a huge range of eating places. The area around Inverness is stunning.

OK as a base to visit Inverness Clean with friendly staff A pretty clinical and soulless place Communal areas stark and functional Dorms cramped and with flimsy uncomfortable bunks My mattress had springs poking through it Large and well equipped kitchens Washing facilities clean but pokey Lots of coach parties Not what I think a SYHA hostel should be and not representative of my experience of many other hostels
