The landscape here is wild and spectacular: mountains and sea, cliffs and waterfalls, beaches and rainbows. On a clear night the starry skies are phenomenal, even better when we get to see the Northern Lights. Durness is a refuge from the hustle and bustle of everyday life; John Lennon himself holidayed here for many years. Our hostel is relaxed and rustic, with a well-equipped kitchen and a very efficient drying room. The lounge, heated by a coal-burning stove, is cosy and peaceful. We are also 3 minutes walk from the infamous Smoo Cave and surrounded by many fine sandy beaches. Explore the beautiful north coast, by making Tongue and John O’Groats hostels your next destinations.
