Bus system can seem confusing at first - especially finding where to change - but worth persevering because it really is very efficient.

Pleasant city hostel, clean and conveniently located in nice part of the town with bus stop for city centre right outside. Be aware though that some buses do not give change and require the correct fare - so carry a selection of coins. Travel tip: If you intend touring the city by bus (they are regular and plentiful) purchase a Day Saver ticket for unlimited travel - £4.20 before 9.30am or £3.70 after.

Aberdeen Youith Hostel is an establishment where we enjoyed a warm welcome and a friendly attitude from the staff. The hostel was clean and warm and located in a pleasant residential area, very close to public transport and only 20 minutes walk from the city centre. Ron & Pat

i very much enjoyed my stay at this Hostel. The staff were courteous and helpful and I found them very bike friendly. My local tip would be the bike shop at the Union St. end of Holburn Place where they kindly had a shot at removing a kink in my rear wheel without charge.

Not as friendly as other SYHA hostels I visited, as most residents were not travelers but local workers. The showers were barely warm (except one on the 2nd floor), even if the weather outside was freezing. There were no lockers in rooms. Kitchen and dining room were alright though, and there was a lovely stove in the TV lounge.

Tip: only in Edinburgh I could really use internet facilities (with my own laptop). Everywhere else, the youth hostels didn't have internet or proposed to buy (1 £ for 20 minutes) a code to go on internet on their pc but what happened? NEVER NEVER NEVER I could reach my own gmail, neither could I use my MSN. So, every time I payed for a service that was never given, 1 pound each time... Another thing I remarked, is that only in Edinburgh, the staff could give me an adaptor. I'm from the continent and my own adaptor was not really a good one. Everywhere else the staff didn't care a damn. I spent a lot of time searching for and buying another one. What I hate, is that in a lot of SYHA's, there aren't even wall plugs in the rooms. Very nice when you need to load the battery of your camera and gsm...

Freindly helpful staff and a good location for both the airport and town with good bus and road links make this hostel a busy and cheerful place. More than makes up in freindliness what the hostel lacks in polish. The night manager is very knowledgeable about cinemas.
