The place was a bit small and I hoped that the room in which I stayed would have no more lodgers but eventually no, there was not one night in which I had the room to myself and the showeroom was dreadful for the fact that it had a curtain, not a door inside the room.

This was our first experience ever with staying in a hostel and all our questions were answered in a friendly, helpful manner. We were given great advice and suggestions during our stay, and gentle guidance for understanding the hostel expectations. This hostel is up a hill from the train station, so be prepared for a bit of an uphill hike. Loved how close it is to Stirling Castle.

Stirling is always my first stop immediately after landing in Edinburgh. It is the perfect place to "get my feet back under me" and slip into my Scottish summer frame of mind. Stirling is user friendly, but get a taxi to the hostel from the bus station. The hostel is almost at the top of the hill from hell. One of my favorite used books stores is in Stirling. The staff are friendly and helpful. The kitchen is well designed, and the dining room is pleasant. (No WIFI though.)

Stirling is a nice place and the hostel best located in the historic town near the castle an the jail-museum (an the top of the jail-museum you have a good view over the town and to the Wallace-Monument). It is also a good starting point for visiting Edinburgh by train, a good alternative if you don´t like to go to a big town by car.

Stirling hostel is situated in a lovely quiet part of the town and near the castle. It is about a 5 minute walk from the city centre. There is a very limited car parking facility with only 9 parking spaces in all. There are parking spaces on the street outside the hostel but this has to be paid for between 8:45am and 5:30pm, the hostel has no control over the charges for the street parking as it is the local council has control of this.

A note in the web guide - might be there already? but if so I missed it - regarding parking availability and times allowed for near street parking would be very useful. I was fortunate but would have liked to know situation before I arrived.

Walking distance to Stirling castle and also to town area. Recommended for staying! However, car park space may be of a problem if the hostel is at full occupancy.

Hostel is in an excellent position for looking around Stirling, it's a hard climb up to the hostel but well worth it even if the people driving around the one way system think they are taking part in the Monte Carlo Rally. On my way to Glasgow it rained but I found but I found an excellent elevenses stop in Kippen at the Deli, and lunch at the roadside pub where the West Highland Way crosses the A81 at Dumgoyne.

Excellent train and bus connections to all parts of Scotland. If you're considering a tour by public transport, do check out the various Rover packages available - often much cheaper than individual fares.

Stirling Youth Hostel,a good address for traveling through Scotland. A modern house with an ancient front, run by a friendly and professional staff, in an interesting town which is surrounded by a pretty landscape, nothing else to say. You should make a visit!
