Didn't stay for long, but it the accommodation served us all well on our 5-day Lands End to John O'Groats trip. Would have stayed longer but the roads were calling.

We stopped over at New Lanark Youth Hostel on our way to Aberdeen to catch the fery for a three week camping tour of the Shetland Isles. It was a great start to our holiday. The hostel was very comfy and clean with good self catering facilities. The environs were very interesting from a historical point of view and also very attractive with the fine buildings and river. We enjoyed a lovely river walk along the Clyde to the bridge.

A really neat place to stay. Neat at night with the river, etc. Lanark is a fun town.

I only picked New Lanark as a place half way on my journey, but its worth a visit in its own right. The whole area has been beautifully restored and the walk along the Clyde was great. The hostel is great

I can advise the round walk up to the wair (?) - the bridge - I can also advise a meal in Kirkfieldbank, in the Riverside restaurant, where you arrive when you are halfway on this round trip along the Clyde. Coffee in the New Lanark Mill hotel is good. The food in the resaurant "not bad" . The pub food there was very average!

Within easy reach of two of Scotlands major cities & set in the Beautiful Lanarkshire countryside, It is a warm and friendly hostel location in a heritage site. A perfect location for visting the Edinburgh Festivals and other activities within the area. Value for Money in my opinion and a special mention to the staff who were very helpful and had a breadth of knowledge on the local area and beyond.

Check out the badger sett in the reserve. However, don't be surprised to see badgers in the car park too!

If eating out go up to Lanark to find somewhere, as the local hotel was very poor value for money.
