A lovely little hostel. Small enough to be very friendly and in a very convenient situation.

A small, friendly hostel with only one common room used for everything (no TV, which to some is a blessing!) and no power points in the tiny bedrooms. The manager and her Slovakian assistant are lovely and extremely helpful. Two excellent pubs in he village, no shortage of groceries with both a Londis and a Co-op and Mr Pia's chip shop is first class. Try the battered haggis!

all the hostels that i stayed in were of a high standard and i also liked the fact that iwas able to check in later since most of the hostels are fairly remote and the transport was scarce

If you plan to eat at the pub in the centre of Inveraray, book at table in advance. It was packed when we were there.

If you like basic - this is the place. Good basic. If you want some creature comforts - like a plug socket in your room - this doesn't quite do it. Not a bad place to stay - you just need to know what you are (or not) getting.

Auberge bien située dans une jolie petite bourgade. Personnel très agréable, l'auberge est calme. Seul petit défaut: les chambres sont un peu petites.

Inverary is a lovely place. Be sure to tour the castle and leave plenty of time because there is so much to see. Sit on the dockside and read with a flask of hot tea and a scone or two. Or, just sit and watch. I had my first kippered herring in Inverary...a definite must have to complete the Inverary experience.

Great wee hostel - the staff managed to fit all 5 of the family into the one room. All the residents gathered in the main room. The warden was very gracious and helpful.

If cycling from Oban to Inveraray be prepared for a long and fairly significant climb from Lochawe up Glen Aray although the views and the 4 to 5 mile downhill run into Invereray makes it all worth while

Inveraray Youth Hostel is in a strategic position for travellers and hill walkers being near to the Arracher Alps and many tourist attractions. The town is very pleasant with interesting places to visit. The whole area is worth more than a stop-over.

No plug socket in the room we stayed in. Only 1 at each end of the corridor. No tumble dryer available, there is a drying room though. 1 shower in the female & male bathrooms & one unisex shower. It was quiet when we were there (end of Sept) so this wasn't a problem but could be at busy times.

When giving out directions to the hostel, best to specify FIRST archway leads to hostel (rather than just through THE archway) as we toured the block three times before spotting it even though its a small town!!

The hostel was nice. Try the George for food and visit the Inveraray caste and the Jail. Plugs in the rooms or in the bathroom would help a lot. We had a 2 persons room and it was really small especially when you're travelling with 2 big suitcases. But the bathroom and the kitchen were completly knew and clean. Although the kitchen was a little poor equipped. No colander when everyone's eating noodles?

My stay at Inveraray was on ScotWays business, part of which was to install some of ScotWays' new "Heritage Paths" signs. Other Hostellers will now find these at (i) Durran, Loch Awe-side, (ii) Kilneuair, Loch Awe-side, (iii) On the N side of the A83, opposite Auchendrain, (iv) The path from Loch Avich N to Bragleenmore, (v) At Bragleenmore, (vi) The Path from Loch Scammadale N to Glenfeochan, (vii) The approach to Glen Feochan House, (viii) Near Musdale, upper Glen Feochan, and (ix) Kilchrenan.

Whilst this hostel isn't the prettiest, it has a carpark attached which is a big plus. It's within walking distance to the facilities in the town i.e. co-op, pubs, restaurants. Gardens maintained well. The facilities, were excellent , it has an open plan dining/relaxation area with several comfy sofas which means more interaction with other travellers (a plus if you're sociable kind of person or travelling on your own and want to swop ideas). The bathroom/shower facilities I believe had been recently upgraded and having stayed at 3 other hostels during my trip, they were topnotch and very clean. The guy that runs the hostel is helpful and friendly and so's his dog!

Very good location - . very helpful staff and very quiet location. brilliant kitchen / diner with everything you could wish for, and a shop just a few minutes walk away. All of inverary in walking distance even with small children. Recommend Inverary jail, and the Castle - spectacular However our room for 2, was a very very crampt small damp room, with black damp mould to ceiling and walls, and old sagging bed, and damp bedding. no privacy at all. as no curtain to the window (room on the ground floor). the shared shower room door didn't even shut let alone lock. Dreadful didn't sleep at all, others left in disgust and didn't stay, but we had no choice. Don't stay here unless there is absolutley no alternative. even sleeping outdoors without a tent would have be preferable to putting yourselves through this.
