Torridon Youth Hostel

Torridon boasts some of the finest mountain scenery in Europe. Situated at the head of Upper Loch Torridon in the shadow of the mighty Liathach, and only a stone's throw from Upper Loch Torridon, Torridon Youth Hostel is a great option for walkers and climbers as well as those simply wishing to relax and enjoy the wildlife.

Torridon Youth Hostel is purpose built and offers modern, practical facilities for outdoor enthusiasts and visiting groups looking for budget accommodation. There is a spacious self-catering kitchen two large panoramic lounges a drying room and a good range of multi-shared rooms and private/family rooms.

The Torridon area is a magnificent corner of the North Western Highlands. Walkers are spoilt for choice here with numerous hills, coastal trails, historic passes and hidden glens to explore. For the best advice ask our hostel staff who will be happy to share their local knowledge with you. The local Mountain Rescue team also has their base at the Youth Hostel.

Other local activities include clay pigeon shooting, archery, kayaking and bike hire (from Torridon Activities) and for those interested in activity holidays our Classic Torridon Munros, An Teallach and Further Torridon Munros walking holidays are based here as well as our Winter Skills courses.

Dogs are now welcome at Torridon Youth Hostel when guests book at private room. This is part of a pilot project until 31st December 2013. A small fee of £5 per dog per night will be charged.

Reception Opening Times: 7.30-10.00am and 5.00-10.30pm.

Hostel opening times: To allow access for cleaning daytime access to the Youth Hostel between 10.30am and 2.30pm is not available. During that time, an entrance lobby with access to a toilet and luggage store for early arrivals is available.

Please note that we do not accept stag or hen parties at any of our hostels.

Food and Drink

Continental breakfast & packed lunches are usually available and there is a small shop at the hostel, selling snacks, drinks, maps and some groceries.

We also offer a great range of evening meals including our popular Curry Club.

These meals are self cater style and quick to prepare.

About Torridon Youth Hostel

The hostel is purpose built and opened in 1975. It offers a spacious layout, comprised of a large self catering kitchen and dining room. There are two panoramic lounges with great views of the mountains, one lounge has a TV and the other is a 'quiet room'. There is a drying room (with dehumidifier) and laundry for guest use. Bedrooms are comfortably sized with Twin, Triple, Quad or Five bedded private rooms usually available. None of our bedrooms are en-suite although some have sinks. Beds are either single or bunk beds with sprung mattresses. Freshly laundered bed linen is provided. Torridon Youth Hostel is great for families, individuals and groups. If the type of accommodation you require is not available online please ring the hostel after 5pm.
