Once a busy herring port, Helmsdale is situated on the shores of the Moray Firth. The village includes shops, bank, train station, a small harbour and the award-winning Timespan Visitor Centre (open daily Easter to October). Helmsdale is an ideal stopping off point on the A9 if you are travelling between Inverness (70 miles) and (John o'Groats 52 miles).
