We are one of the Scottish Marine Life Watch destinations with Basking Sharks being spotted from the hostel. We are also an excellent location for bird watching: Black and Red Throated and Great Northern Divers, Puffins, Golden Eagles and Skuas can all be seen. Watching Gannets dive in the early summer is spectacular.

By Bus:

From Inverness Bus Station , Westerbus - one bus daily (except Sunday) at 1720.   Ask for Strath Post Office. Hostel 2.5 miles along road towards Melvaig.

From 28th May until 30th Sep there is a daily bus at 0800 from Inverness bus station. There are also buses to meet the trains from Inverness and Kyle of Lochalsh at Achnasheen.

There is also a bus from Ullapool at 1815 on Mon, Wed and Sat. And one at 1310 on a Thurs.

On school days there is a bus from Gairloch High school to the hostel at 1535

From Ullapool Pier, Rapsons Coaches - one bus daily (Mon - Fri) at 1100. Ask for Gairloch Pier.

By Train:

Closest rail station – Inverness, then take bus as above.

By Car:

Take the B8021 (opposite Grocery Store) for 3 miles towards Melvaig. Hostel is next to the road.
