Whether you’re an expert looking for a heart thumping exhilarating experience, a challenging route with lots of mud and dirt, or an easier lower level track to explore with family or friends then Scotland is the place to visit. In the Scottish borders you will find a number of locations know as the 7 Stanes, provided and maintained by the Scottish Forestry Commission. We have a number of Youth Hostels situated near to the 7 Stanes centers, these include Broadmeadows and Minnigaff which have good facilities and are being developed as SYHA mountain bike friendly hostels. Our new Hostel Edinburgh Central is only about an hours drive from Glentress Forest allowing the opportunity to combine a city break with a mountain biking trip. 7stanes activity centers: Dalbeattie Innerleithen & Glentress Kirroughtree Mabie Newcastleton Ae Glentrool It’s not just the Scottish borders that offer great mountain biking routes, there are many more across the country. Areas such as the Cairngorms, Fort William, Isle of Arran, and Laggan are popular, with the city of Inverness close to five of the top mountain biking routes in Scotland.
