Melrose sits in the centre of the Scottish Border country. It was founded as a Roman fort to guard the banks of the River Tweed, and later gained prominence as a result of its Cistercian Abbey whose ruins still dominate the town. The hostel, a former Georgian mansion, overlooks the Abbey and provides great facilities and warm welcome. Our self-catering kitchen is very well equipped, with a spacious dining room with a gorgeous view. The Abbey is also the starting point for St. Cuthbert's Way cross-Border walking route which finishes on Lindisfarne, Holy Island. Popular with cyclists and walkers as well as tourists. Four Abbeys cycle routes nearby.
CONTINENTAL breakfast is available at £3.50 No other meals are provided for individuals. Groups must book in advance for all meals: breakfast, packed lunch, & evening meal. "A superb base for exploring the Borders, resembles a stately manor" - Lets Go Scotland
